10 WWE Stars Who Didn’t See Their Own Downfall Coming

7. Diamond Dallas Page

It'd be interesting to pin Diamond Dallas Page down and ask him if he would've signed a WWF deal in 2001 had he known what the creative team had in store for him. Page gave up a lucrative AOL/Time Warner deal when WCW went out of business, put his destiny in Vince McMahon's hands and wound up regretting it.

He couldn't have known they'd turn him into a goofy stalker character and have The Undertaker beat him senseless for months. Similarly, DDP couldn't have guessed that 'Taker's then-wife Sara would pin him on live TV, or that signing with the WWF would end his main event career ambitions for good.

'Feel The Bang' indeed. This 'bang' had to be painful.

Page banked on his own abilities to make waves in pastures new. He was perhaps right to do so, because he had overcome odds before to become a major star in WCW, but McMahon's writing staff weren't kind to him at all. What a waste.
