10 WWE Stars Who Have Suffered The Most Since WrestleMania 32

9. Darren Young

The 'Make Darren Young Great Again' idea has been a colossal flop from the get-go; it's a truly damning verdict of the gimmick, but it's true that Young was far better of teaming with Titus O'Neil again as The Prime Time Players, rather than awkwardly aligning with Bob Backlund and alienating himself from WWE's core demographic.

As shocking as it may sound, young children don't identify with the archaic Backlund despite his rightful place as a WWE Hall Of Famer. How any association with the bowtie-wearing Bob was supposed to reinvigorate Darren Young is a mystery even WWE's creative team wouldn't be able to solve.

The question must be asked: why did it even happen?

Repackaged after his own involvement in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal last year, the ex-tag wrestler's bizarre teacher/student relationship with Backlund hasn't worked whatsoever; worse, Young went down with an arm injury in January, and he has no real place on the 'Mania 33 card at all.

Upon his full-time return to action, Young will probably be rebooted again. That is for the best. His storyline with Backlund has been a mess.
