10 WWE Stars Who NEED To Return To NXT

These superstars would look better in Black and Gold than Blue or Red.

There has never been anything quite like NXT in the world of wrestling.

What started as a cringeworthy talent show evolved into a chance for developmental talent to receive limited exposure through a one hour, online-only program. NXT's focus on traditional professional wrestling, incredibly high match quality and showcasing big-name talent from around the world found the brand's popularity grow at an exponential rate until, in September 2019, it became a two hour, nationally televised broadcast. Whether that was a good move for the show is up for debate but one thing has become clear - NXT is now every bit the brand that RAW and SmackDown are.

As such, returning to NXT is now a viable career path for any WWE superstar who has, for one reason or another, struggled to gain a foothold on either RAW or SmackDown. This list will show a group of wrestlers who would benefit from a return to NXT, either for practical or storyline purposes, as well as one veteran who would do well to make his debut for the black and yellow brand.

10. Shelton Benjamin

Starting off with our one and only 'cheat' entry, Shelton Benjamin has never actually been on NXT but he is tailor made for it.

At 44 years of age, Shelton Benjamin's days as a headliner are likely over, but he still has a lot of value as a gatekeeper for the next generation to prove their mettle against. Shelton's veteran status and in-ring credentials would make him an ideal opponent for the less experienced members of the NXT roster. A program against someone of Benjamin's credibility would be an instant boost to any fledgling talent, and anyone who could measure up to the former Gold Standard would be earmarked as one to watch.

To be fair, WWE seem to be using Shelton Benjamin in this manner on Main Event but a wrestler of his calibre deserves a wider platform to showcase his talents.
