10 WWE Stars Who Went From Undesirable To Undeniable
8. Becky Lynch
It seems almost unbelievable now, considering the megastar she has become, that Becky Lynch was never intended to be the face of women's wrestling.
As much as WWE would want you to believe they always had her in mind, there is certainly an element of Daniel Bryan-esque rewriting of history when it pertains to the rise of 'The Man'. Long story short, of the four women who would usher the WWE into a welcome new age of women's wrestling, the Ireland native was the least pushed of the lot.
Sure, she may have made her way onto the roster before Bayley did, by jumping up from NXT with Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks, but Lynch was never treated with the same respect as her fellow Horsewomen. She may have been the inaugural Smackdown! Women's Champion, but her reign lasted less than ninety days and then she floundered as a steampunk-theme babyface.
There was no real push or creative direction, and that inevitably led to WWE playing their usual hand of just turning someone heel and see what happens. But the fans had grown tired of Charlotte Flair's mega push, and when she once again stole the limelight from 'The Lass Kicker', the fans cheered her wildly as she turned on her old friend.
WWE still wanted her to play the heel, but when it became impossible, they steered into the rise of Lynch, which only grew when an errant right hand from Nia Jax sent her stock stratospheric.
