Much like his fellow Canadian Chris, Benoit wasn't signed to the World Wrestling Federation when SmackDown made its arrival on our screens in April 1999. Eight months later he would arrive however, along with fellow Radicalz Dean Malenko, Eddie Guerrero and Perry Saturn.

The quartet fought for contracts on SmackDown in February of 2000, with Benoit's first SmackDown match coming the main event of the show in a losing effort against Triple H.

207 matches later Benoit would lace up his boots one last time on WWE SmackDown, this time in another high profile match that he would lose. Benoit faced fellow Canadian Edge (more on him in a bit), and the two put on a fantastic four-star match with the Rated-R Superstar coming out on top and Benoit receiving a standing ovation for his efforts.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
