10 WWE Stars Who Were Worthless Intercontinental Champions

5. Ahmed Johnson

Now we finally get to Ahmed Johnson. This guy was a big brute of a man who, well, was never really all that good in the ring. But he looked the part, and that was good enough back in mid 90s WWE. In 1996, Ahmed was able to capture gold by defeating Goldust to become Intercontinental Champion. During this time, the IC title was very prestigious and many believed that Ahmed would become a WWE Champion in the near future. What made it even more special was that Ahmed became the very first black wrestler to win the IC title. It€™s a historic moment much akin to when Faarooq became the first black WCW champion. Ironically, it would be a debuting Faarooq who would attack Ahmed and cause him to forfeit the Intercontinental Championship that Marc Mero would eventually win. In truth, the forfeit was due to real kidney problems Ahmed had at the time which caused him to miss out on not only his SummerSlam match, but also his WWE Championship opportunity. He would be out for four months before returning later in the year to feud with Faarooq. The next year, Ahmed and Faarooq would join up along with Kama Mustafa and D€™Lo Brown to form the Nation of Domination. Ahmed eventually left WWE in 1998, joined WCW for a few years, and finally retried from wrestling in 2003.
