10 WWE SummerSlam 2016 Predictions
1. Shinsuke Nakamura Debuts
Consider this a bonus prediction. I don't expect Shinsuke Nakamura to make his WWE debut at SummerSlam, but I do believe it will happen the following evening on Raw.
Nakamura has been undefeated since debuting in NXT, earning him a title shot against Samoa Joe at TakeOver: Back to Brooklyn. That show, which will be held in Brooklyn's Barclays Center the evening before SummerSlam, is generating almost as much buzz as the main card itself. If NXT were in a vacuum, Nakamura would be best served by winning the title, but the 36-year-old isn't being paid big money to stay in development forever.
After a hard-fought (and potentially fishy) loss to Joe at TakeOver, Nakamura will have a quiet Sunday. Then, on Raw, when new Universal Champion Finn Balor is getting attacked by an angry Seth Rollins, Nakamura will make a blazing debut, saving his friend/rival from the attack.
The Barclays Center crowd, many of whom were at TakeOver, will give him the ovation of the year.
