10 WWE SummerSlam 2020 Impulse Reactions

9. Apollo Crews (c) Vs. MVP

Apollo Crews
WWE

There is as little to say about this match as there is the Apollo Crews Vs MVP feud as there is most Kickoff matches as there is working inside the ThunderDome.

All of the above were things that happened, but nothing really happened, you know? Shelton Benjamin looked pleased with himself as 24/7 Champion and Bobby Lashley looked like twice the star of both of them, but neither being allowed at ringside was the only bit of story that separated this pre-show battle from the stagnant Performance Center Raw showdowns.

Crews retained and we can at this point call this a sustained push, even if the United States Champion might only be keeping the belt warm for one more week. Payback loomed large over this one in the way Lashley himself would if he was stood next to you. 'The All Mighty' was always the match that really popped from all this Hurt Business business, but watching them hop the hurdles wasn't exactly a case of the journey being as exciting as the destination.
