8. A Lack Of Women’s Action…

And if past outcomes from previous PPVs are indeed anything to go by, then the future isn’t looking too bright for the challenger to the WWE Women’s Championship, Charlotte.

Obviously we can’t compare apples with apples, here, because the current Women’s Title belt has only been around since April of this year. But if take a look back at the old Women’s Championship (the one we’re all supposed to have forgotten about) we’ll see that there have only been two new Women’s Champions crowned at SummerSlam since the PPV's inception

2008 was the last time it happened, when Beth Phoenix captured the belt in a inter-gender tag match, and the only instance prior to that was in 1995, with Bertha Faye defeating Alundra Blayze at the Civic Centre in Pittsburgh.

Admittedly, though, the biggest reason for this is that the title has simply been defended so infrequently at the annual summer showcase; there have only been a total of four Women’s Title bouts in all of SummerSlam's history. Plus, I should probably note that we did see the Divas Championship change hands a little more often - twice in the three shows at which it was defended between 2010 and 2014.

Even so, if Charlotte wants to regain her Women’s title at this year’s PPV, she’ll have to pull out a major performance and achieve what very few women before her have managed to do in SummerSlam's long history.
