3. CM Punk

In the same vein as his wife's journey to WWE, CM Punk's challenging upbringing prompted a keen interest in several escapist sub-cultures, with pro wrestling providing a transformative outlet away from his home-life.

Starting a backyard federation with his Chicago friends, Punk was such an avid wrestling fan that he took the hobby far more seriously than his contemporaries, and saw it as his first step to making it as a professional wrestler.

This more serious demeanour would stand him in good stead, as within two years he'd be working regularly on a reborn American independent scene, beginning a journey that would lead him to becoming one of the most unlikely success stories in WWE history.

And it was during Punk's WWE career that a number of photographs would surface online of him meeting stars as a younger fan, and he'd also style his ring gear to pay tribute to both Bret Hart during angle with John Cena that would drag in 'The Hitman', and 'Macho Man' Randy Savage following his tragic death.

Setting a post-Hulk Hogan longevity record with WWE Title unlikely to be beaten anytime soon, Punk left the company with a legacy certain to inspire countless others who may experience similar setbacks growing up.
