Considering the potential and what could've been for Seth Rollins coming off his long absence from injury in 2016, he's absolutely been a victim of poor writing.
A year ago, many thought that Rollins would be the Bret Hart to Roman Reigns's Lex Luger - and would supplant the Big Dog as WWE's number one babyface. It certainly could've, and probably should've happened, but for whatever curious reason(s) did not.
A more "real" side to his character was on display during WWE 24, as well as other WWE Network segments that featured Seth acting more naturally, and fans rallied around him. Despite knowing better, WWE's creative plans saw Seth Rollins return as a heel. His post-Extreme Rules promo, bashing the fans that supported his recovery came off flat and within weeks his reactions were lukewarm at best.
After another legit injury recently, Seth has still been delivering scripted dialogue in a very wooden manner. WWE needs to allows Seth the freedom to tap into his inner feelings of anger, frustration, and possibly resentment if babyface Seth Rollins is going to succeed. If they don't and he's forced to rely on uninspired writing like in 2016, it will end up the way it did last year, leaving much to be desired.
