10 WWE Superstars Who Need To Go Back To Developmental
3. Zack Ryder
What a difference three years makes. This time in 2011, Zack Ryder was THE hottest thing in wrestling. Theres a famous video of The Rock delivering a promo after his main event match at Survivor Series, and his voice is drowned out by the fans cries of WE WANT RYDER! He was the first wrestler to use that grassroots groundswell of support that got Daniel Bryan to WrestleMania, but he couldnt hold onto that support. When Zack Ryder won the United States Championship, he had the opportunity to expand his character. The next night on Raw, he came out with WWE Champion CM Punk and World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan to represent the new WWE. Punk and Bryan both delivered impassioned promos about their journey to that point, and this was the perfect time for Zack Ryder to do the same. Instead, he fell back on his old standard and just said Woo Woo Woo, You Know It! Zack Ryder obviously has a lot of upside, he can connect with fans in a way not many people can and has really improved in the ring. His biggest problem is that hes still playing his biggest hit for years ago and fans are begging for new material. Some time in NXT could be just what he needs to find out who Zack Ryder is beyond the headband and catchphrases.
