10 WWE Superstars Who Are Overdue A Main Roster Push
2. Shayna Baszler
Following a terrific Royal Rumble performance that saw her eliminated last by Charlotte Flair, it seemed WWE had big plans for Shayna Baszler. While she was presented as an absolute badass during a 416 day NXT title reign, Baszler’s debut on RAW was perplexing, as she attempted to, quite literally, bite Becky Lynch’s head off. Despite her bizarre introduction on the main roster, Baszler ran through all five of her opponents at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view and seemed as though she was destined to dethrone The Man at WrestleMania 36.
Then she lost. With a creative team unable to book captivating storylines for the women’s division, Baszler has been struggling to regain the aura she had while wrestling on the black-and-yellow brand. Since WrestleMania, The Queen of Spades lost the cinematic, comedy version of the annual Money in the Bank Ladder Match, and currently represents half of the women’s tag team champions, in a directionless, reluctant partnership with Nia Jax.
Baszler has the potential to be the face of the women’s division for years to come and is currently being under-utilized on Monday nights. She has credibility, with a background in mixed martial arts, and simply needs to be booked as the version of herself that she was in NXT.
Pushing Baszler should be of the utmost priority for WWE’s creative, particularly because a title match against Asuka at WrestleMania 37 has the potential to be a Match of the Year Candidate.
