10 WWE Superstars Who Are Overdue A Main Roster Push
3. Aleister Black
Even by WWE standards, it took little time for creative to take an NXT diamond and turn him into a lump of coal on the main roster. While at Full Sail, Aleister Black was a no-nonsense, killer who could get his opponents over by saying their name. Since being promoted to RAW, Black has been presented as a brooding loner, who spends his days in a dark room, waiting for someone to pick a fight with him.
The Dutch Destroyer is a gifted wrestler, whose Black Mass is one of the best finishers in the industry. Having seen what he is capable of in NXT, it’s frustrating to see another potential star being wasted. Not every performer can be booked to get over, but Black is the complete package and should have been a slam-dunk.
It’s a shame Paul Heyman wasn’t given more time to get Black over, while he was overseeing creative on RAW. With rumours that Black had recently requested to return to NXT and concerns he may face punishment booking for the manner in which Zelina Vega- his real life wife- was recently released from WWE, his future doesn’t look promising.
From his entrance, to his character, to his in-ring ability, Black didn’t need many tweaks to his presentation when he was promoted to the main roster. WWE should take a mulligan on Black and, following an extended absence from television, re-introduce him in 2021 as the composed, lethal striker he was while on NXT.
