This is not one for the short-term future. The Miz is currently flirting with the idea of repeating history by cashing in Money In The Bank on Randy Orton, ten years on from his only WWE Championship to date. A second world title run would be unquestionably deserved after a decade of proving the doubters wrong.

However, two more reigns with the IC belt for Miz would put him out on his own as the man with the most reigns (ten) and most cumulative days as champ (592+). He currently sits second on both lists, and he has earned a spot in history for his longevity and character work.

In the mould of John Cena hunting down Ric Flair's record of 16 world championships, the thought of toppling *name redacted for AEW reasons* and becoming the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time would be the only story WWE would need to tell. It's a tale that would work whether Miz was heel or face, but the tenth title would surely be greeted with raucous appreciation by the time it came to be.
