10 WWE Superstars Who Had Vince McMahon By The B*lls

6. Jake 'The Snake' Roberts

In early 1992 Jake Roberts was enjoying a role close to the top of the card as a heel. However, years on the road had left his body constantly in pain which meant he was looking to wind down his career. Pat Patterson's involvement in that sex scandal seemingly opened up a space on the writing team, a space that Jake wanted to fill. Vince McMahon wasn't playing ball and in the knowledge that Pat would be back, told Snake he wouldn't be getting the role.

Not knowing what Vince knew, Jake took the snub to heart and asked for his release. He opened talks with Kip Frye at WCW; He wanted to jump ship to Vince's primary competitor.

Vince rejected Jake's resignation, but Snake had a plan. Minutes before he was to take to the ramp for his match with Undertaker at WrestleMania VIII, Roberts told McMahon that he wanted him to sign his release or he wouldn't wrestle. McMahon was forced to comply.

Jake had negotiated a lucrative deal to be a top heel for Frye at WCW, although Kip wasn't employed by the time The Snake was ready to debut. Bill Watts had been hired to replace him and was tasked with slashing the wage bill. He saw Roberts' inflated wage packet and reportedly tore the contract up in front of the WWE Hall of Famer's face.

Jake went back to WWE with his tail between his legs, earning a lot less than he was beforehand.

Before that unfortunate bit of luck though, The Snake had a vice-like grip on Vince McMahon's knackers.

Imagine if a heavily publicised WrestleMania match involving two big hitters on the roster didn't happen today...
