10 WWE Superstars Who Went From Hero To Zero In A Heartbeat
8. Keith Lee
This is one puzzle the fanbase will brood over for the foreseeable: how do you mess up Keith Lee? The limitless one was booked well on NXT, particularly towards the end of his tenure, and following great showings at Survivor Series and Royal Rumble, his main event emergence seemed only a matter of time.
When he arrived, there was cautious optimism. Yes, they’d bafflingly changed his awesome ring music and made him put on a shirt, but his first feud was with future hall of famer Randy Orton. After Lee basically ran through the Viper at Payback 2020, things were looking rosy. The sky was the limit, as it should be for a man of Lee’s talents.
A combination of misfortune and stupidity then ruined everything. Lee caught COVID, and suffered in a big way. WWE gave their support as he undertook medical procedures and readied a return.
Recent Raw viewers will know the rest. He lost in quick fashion to Bobby Lashley and Karrion Kross. He was given the nickname “Bearcat”. And then he was let go. It certainly seems there’s a story here, as a guy who once looked like a made man is now waiting out his 90 days non-compete.
