10 WWE Superstars Without Direction Following WrestleMania & Greatest Royal Rumble
5. Buddy Murphy
Former NXT Tag Team Champions just before the division got any good, Blake and Murphy were known more for who they lost rather than any matches they won when valet Alexa Bliss lapped them on the way to the main roster in 2016. 'The Goddess' was a natural fit as their valet but developed at an unbelievable clip in the process, far surpassing their flagging charisma during a down period for the trio.
With Bliss gone, her real life beau Buddy Murphy sank on the developmental brand before a bizarre cruiserweight call-up reflected many of the quick changes Triple H attempted to implement on the cursed broadcast. He was reframed as a muscled spitfire, forced to make weight every week but on an advantageous platform when he could. The league was immediately more credible as a result - an aspiration just to be there is one of WrestleMania's biggest weaknesses, but looked good on a show as beleaguered as 205 Live.
His delicately balanced momentum quickly collapsed. Falling foul of WWE's most common problem though, a few losses put a bullet in his revived appeal. Pigeonholed with the rest of lightweights overnight, it's hard to see a way back to prominence for the chiseled Aussie lest he immediately take Cedric Alexander's title.
