10 WWE Superstars You Didn't Know Had World Title Matches

4. Taka Michinoku (vs. Triple H) - Raw 2000

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3I-iUL2IBn4 Arguably the most famous underdog to receive a top title shot in this countdown. Taka Michinoku was a well respected member of the then WWF locker room. His work in the ring was stellar but the only thing holding him back was his size. Pound-for-pound, he was the smallest man in the locker room which meant that he couldn't push on and have a sustained run as either Intercontinental and/or WWF Champion. It had to come down to the old legitimacy of a champions debate, surely? Nevertheless, the Japanese native was handed a WWF Championship shot as Triple H went through that phase of taking on all comers. All comers that he knew would come no where near to beating him. Taka was accompanied to the ring by his partner Funaki and The APA, his hired protection. After John and Ron chased Shane McMahon away from the ring a compelling match ensued. It's testitment to Taka's work in the ring that at numerous points during the match we beleived he could go on and capture the big one. This is the sort of matchup that had every right to be booked as a squash match. It was great to see Michinoku's talents being showcased against what was then, the best of the best. Ultimately however, he would come up short.
