10 WWE Superstars You Totally Forgot Were Heel

3. Hulk Hogan

Before the obvious "of course Hogan was a heel" comments come pouring in, this entry is referencing Hogan's early WWF days. Not his WCW and consequential nWo days, nor his return to the soon-to-be WWE in early 2002; Hogan makes the number 3 spot because many fans may not recall that prior to the days of Hulkamania, the Hulkster was a villain, brother.

From 1984 through 1994, WWE went to great lengths to present The Hulkster as having always been a good guy. Revisionist history at its finest, WWE has never been one to let the truth get in the way of a good story, but I digress...

Hogan actually debuted in the WWF in 1979 when he was paired with notorious heel manager "Classy" Freddie Blassie. This was while Vincent J. McMahon ran the company and Bob Backlund was his flagship performer and WWF Champion. After a falling out about Hogan's potential role in Rocky III, The Hulkster left the territory and ended his first WWE heel run.

It would take another 5 years for Hulk to return to the promotion, this time working for Vincent Kennedy McMahon, and become the torchbearer for both the World Wrestling Federation and the catalyst for the professional wrestling boom period.
