Randy Orton's 12th WWE world title reign might as well have never occurred. The reign which lasted from October of 2013 until April the following year was all about one man: Daniel Bryan.

Orton was a victim of being the wrong man at the wrong time when he overcame the red-hot Bryan to win the WWE Championship in a feud that stacked the deck against the fan favourite. Although fans could be forgiven that things would eventually fan in the favour of their beloved Bryan, WWE had little interest in delivering what was asked.

Another program with John Cena to unify WWE's two major championships was the final straw for WWE Universe members, who collectively came together to state that enough was enough. Cena and Orton were turned on and 2014 Royal Rumble winner Batista was rejected: fans wanted Daniel Bryan and nothing else would do.

Eventually WWE caved to the resounding pressure and Daniel Bryan received his time in the sun at WrestleMania XXX. Nevertheless, it's sad that it had to come to fans uniting as one to revolt against WWE's ideals.

Overly-opinionated Australian WWE smark who is definitely not #booty. Slowly angering the IWC one article at a time. We will probably strongly dislike each other - let's be friends! @MattKMarsden
