Before anyone's panties get in a knot, yes Bret Hart is a bona fide legend of professional wrestling and nothing short of an icon. Does that mean he deserved to win any WWE championship 10 years after his retirement? Hell no!

Working with The Hart Dynasty - the team of David Hart Smith and Tyson Kidd - a member of the stable was granted a United States Championship match against The Miz, who chose Bret as his opponent. The Dynasty aid The Hitman, Bret gets the victory, everyone's happy, right?

Plenty of fans rejoiced at The Hitman claiming WWE gold once again, but those who don't salivate over Hart saw it as the slap in the face it really was. Cutting out the Bret Hart hysteria, WWE decided to give one of its championships to a then-52-year-old man as a way to pander to a certain fanbase and make up for the infamous Montreal Screwjob.

The Hitman vacated the title upon his appointment as general manager of Raw, but the history books still show that an old, out-of-shape, retired Bret Hart won a WWE title. Imagine the uproar if it was Hulk Hogan winning the United States Championship instead...
