10 WWE Wishes (That Will Never Come True)
2. Cesaro Getting A World Title
Sorry, but it’s true. It shouldn’t be true, but it is. Cesaro will be remembered among the likes of Owen Hart and Mr Perfect, exemplary wrestlers who were never trusted with WWE’s big belt, and while that’s an outrageous oversight on the part of the booking committee, at this point we might as well face facts.
Cesaro was thrust ever so briefly into the spotlight in 2021, and he seized the opportunity as anyone who’s seen him work knew he would. He excelled in Elimination Chamber and took Roman Reigns to the limit at Backlash, a match of the year contender.
No one was expecting WWE to pull the trigger there, given the long term project that is Reigns, but this should have been the jumping-off point for Cesaro to stake a claim as a true top guy. While we’re not too far removed from that rare headline spot, though, Cesaro has already tumbled back down the card after coming out the loser in his feud with Seth Rollins.
The guy looks like he could go forever, but he’s 40 years old. If it’s not going to happen for him right now, it’s probably never going to happen. All we can do is accept it, and continue to puzzle over how this guy isn’t the company’s top star.
