10 WWE Wishes (That Will Never Come True)

3. Kharma's Unfinished Business

While WWE was doing little of note with its female roster in the late ‘00s-early ‘10s, over in TNA things were different. Its Knockout Division, headlined by Gail Kim (whose time WWE repeatedly wasted) and Awesome Kong, was putting on some of the best women’s wrestling in the US. As is their wont, WWE eventually nabbed Kong, who was renamed Kharma and teased in exciting fashion.

Kharma’s time with WWE can be put down to equal parts bad timing and mismanagement. She made a few appearances on TV and PPV in 2011, but soon had to step down due to pregnancy. Her reemergence at the Royal Rumble the following year was memorable (mostly for terrorising Michael Cole), but only six months hence, she was released.

It feels as though Kharma, an excellent worker and incredible presence, still has a ton to prove at WWE, and had she made the jump five or six years later, she’d have found a revamped division far more in line with her skills.

Having since worked for TNA and AEW, Kharma/Kong seems as though she’s more or less done with wrestling, on a full-time basis at least, finding plenty of work as an actor. Given the brevity of her WWE tenure, it’s hard to imagine she’d be worth much of a nostalgia pop, but she was certainly underutilised by the company.
