As if WWE has put a lick of thought into the United States Title picture heading into WrestleMania 37. They probably haven’t put a lick of thought into what they’re doing with it next week, really.

Calling the midcard belts “afterthoughts” is barely even a statement anymore. You might get the odd reign here and there that threatens to restore the US and IC straps to what they used to be, but this never sticks and the straps inevitably fall back down to their line of best fit, merely existing in WWE’s crowded universe.

So it’s tough to figure out what WWE is going to do with the US strap. Riddle is in its orbit at the moment, but he could get squashed and shuffle back down the pack at any second. It’s the wild west out there.

As WWE will flip this belt on a whim, this pick is based on the assumption that Bobby Lashley drops it for the Hurt Business’ split and feud. Keith Lee is a strong candidate as he’s still relatively fresh out of the World Title scene and needs something to latch onto. AJ Styles is here because he’s one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, a good heel foil, and has never gone one-on-one with Keith. It’s a first-timer - and it’d be great.
