10 WWE Wrestlers John Cena Shouldn't Have Beaten
7. Edge
When the Money in the Bank Ladder match was introduced in 2005, no one was quite sure what to expect. It was the first of its kind, and if the concept wasn't a concept, the chances of it making a return in the future were very slim. The Ladder match Edge won the briefcase in was awesome and all, but he waited so long to cash in the contract for a WWE Championship match that fans started to question whether he was going to follow through with it at all.
Much to everyone's surprise, Edge took advantage of the ultimate opportunity at New Year's Revolution 2006. John Cena had just successfully defended his WWE Championship inside the grueling Elimination Chamber when he was challenged to an impromptu championship match by Edge immediately afterward. It didn't take much for Edge to put him away, and once he scored the three count and his first WWE title, the live crowd roared with elation.
It was a monumental moment that essentially solidified Edge as a star with fans looking back on that night as a turning career in his career. What they may not remember, however, was Cena beating Edge for the belt three weeks later at Royal Rumble.
They'd go on to have a great feud that summer, but Edge's three-week reign as champ was a major disappointment.
