10 WWE Wrestlers Who Got Buried Because Of Their Tag Partner

1. Air Boom

In 2012 Primo and Epico beat Evan Bourne and Kofi Kingston for the tag titles on a house show.

It was surprising to the live crowd and fans online, given title changes on live events rarely occur in wrestling, especially in WWE. Plus Evan and Kofi as ‘Air Boom’ had proven to be a popular act since coming together months prior. Their high-flying aerial moveset and smooth chemistry was a winning combination that was winning them fans and high praise.

The reason they lost the gold was Evan Bourne’s second violation of the company’s wellness policy for smoking a synthetic form of marijuana. His first violation was only a few months prior, where he was suspended for 30 days but still managed to keep the tag titles with Kofi (even though in kayfabe they weren’t defended in over a month). His second wellness failure was a step too far for WWE, who immediately had Air Boom drop the titles on the next available show and suspended Evan for 60 days afterwards.

Kofi had to lose his championship through Evan continually screwing up. Evan has since taken responsibility, claiming in shoot interviews he strongly apologized to Kofi for messing up, with Kofi (renowned for being one of the nicest and friendliest wrestlers on the roster) being supportive through it all.
