10 WWE Wrestlers Who Lost On Their Debut

6. Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan is the same guy who got beat by Sheamus in 18 seconds at WrestleMania XXVIII. He's the same guy who once (briefly) lost his job for beating up Justin Roberts a little too convincingly during the Nexus invasion of Raw. Of course he lost his first match.

To be fair, the future WWE Champion was a mere rookie when he got his first taste of life in a Vince McMahon ring in 2002. Unless you were super into your indie wrestling, you probably hadn't even heard of the guy they were beginning to call the American Dragon.

After contesting one or two dark matches, Bryan stepped in front of the cameras in January of the following year on the now discontinued Velocity, facing fellow pint-sized technician Jamie Noble in what is probably one of the better matches ever seen on the show (for whatever that's worth).

He lost, but clearly impressed officials enough for them to invite him back again later on in the year. It was during one of these appearances that he locked horns with a young John Cena, a man who would later become one of his most famous adversaries (and, lest we forget, his brother-in-law).
