10 WWE Wrestlers Who Should Have Bypassed NXT
5. Kairi Sane
Missed opportunities are as common in WWE as merchandise is at Disneyland. Fans are constantly finding themselves disappointed by the failure of the company to capitalise on certain wrestlers' potential, and Kairi Sane is one such example. She was so good at her job that seeing her lost in the shuffle on the main roster was heart-breaking. Still, she should have been sent there right away.
After making a name for herself in the Japanese promotion Stardom, Sane came into WWE and won the first-ever Mae Young Classic. Her Pirate Princess gimmick, great move-set and stunning elbow drop made her an instant fan-favourite, and her victory carried her into NXT. However, with all of her credibility and talent, she should have been primed for a main roster debut.
Sane was the perfect babyface, as her gimmick was interesting enough to get fans invested, and her underdog in-ring work made her fascinating to watch. As a new hero in the women's division, she would have set the place on fire, and while she wasn't used to the WWE style by that point, she no doubt would have thrived in that sink or swim environment.
