10 WWE Wrestlers Who Survived HORRIBLE Debuts

Daniel Bryan might've caused Justin Roberts some discomfort during his WWE debut, but at least he didn't full-on injure someone. That, however, was the fate which befell one of his WrestleMania 37 opponents: 'Rated-R Superstar' Edge.

After weeks of teasing his arrival in vignettes, the long-haired Canadian heartthrob had his very first televised Raw match on 22 June 1998. His opponent was José Estrada Jr, who you might remember as a member of Los Boricuas alongside Savio Vega.

Edge was supposed to go over strong in his debut, but he might have tried a little too hard. The newbie went to hit a somersault senton to Estrada outside of the ring, and accidentally (legitimately) injured the Puerto Rican's neck. José was unable to get back in the ring, so his young opponent was declared the winner via countout.

Getting a reputation as unsafe can seriously hamper a wrestler's career. Look at Public Enemy, the ECW team who were bullied out of WWE for being too stiff. Luckily for our favourite spear-addicted 'Ultimate Opportunist', he was given another chance and made his pay-per-view debut at SummerSlam about a month later.

We're sure Estrada was thrilled.
