10 WWE Wrestlers Who Won Championships With Multiple Gimmicks

4. Cody Rhodes - Stardust

From a superhero to a super villain, Stardust was a WWE gimmick that dragged on for longer than was ever really necessary, and once Stardust and Goldust had lost the WWE Tag Team Championships to Damien Mizdow & The Miz almost all of the juice had been sucked out of the gimmick. It ran on for an unnecessary year and a half after this.

The biggest issue regarding Stardust was less the gimmick itself and more the fact that it was stopping Cody Rhodes from breaking out on his own. When Cody became one of the few superstars to stand up to The Authority in late 2013 he seemed primed to step up as a major babyface in the company, but the major push never came. Cody may well get another chance at the top tier further down the line but for now it represents a real missed opportunity.

The Grandson of a Plumber had spent the previous few years working as a heel in the company and had won himself two Intercontinental Championships during the time, being the man who brought back the classic title design in the process. Cody also won tag titles on five occasions during his pre-Stardust days, alongside Hardcore Holly, Ted DiBiase Jr. (twice), Drew McIntyre and Goldust.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
