Much like R-Truth will be forever linked with the 24/7 Championship, Crash Holly will arguably go down as the superstar most associated with the Hardcore Championship, with his comedy skits and Looney Tunes antics always making the belt a highlight of weekly TV.

Crash has stolen the belt during matches on multiple occasions on Raw and SmackDown, but this match at King Of The Ring 2000 is they one we'll focus on today simply because it's so weird - and also, it's the only one that happened on PPV. Going into the event, Pat Patterson was the Hardcore Champion, winning the title backstage from fellow stooge Gerald Briscoe. Following a chase, Patterson was discovered hiding in the women's locker room in drag.

When Mr. McMahon caught wind of this, he scheduled a match between the two at the event. The stage was set for inaugural Intercontinental Champion Pat Patterson, and half of the legendary Briscoes tag team Gerald Briscoe, battling for the WWF Hardcore Championship in a Hardcore Evening Gown Match.

The brawl between the two men with a combined age of 103 went as well as you'd expect until Crash Holly, taking advantage of the 24/7 rule exclusive to the Hardcore title, attacked both men and pinned Patterson for the championship despite both not being in the match, and not wearing an evening gown!
