Like so many wrestlers before him, Raven looked to prove himself outside of WWE following his release in 2003. While his first stop post WWE was in the newly formed TNA, the leader of Raven’s Flock appeared in Ring of Honor frequently, due to a working relationship between the two companies.

Almost all of Raven’s time in Ring of Honor came in an acclaimed feud with CM Punk. The two hardcore wrestlers traded victories throughout 2013 in a wide array of violent matches. At Expect the Unexpected, Raven would lose to the straight edge superstar in his patented Raven’s Rules match. After trading wins in various tag team matches, the two would meet again at Death Before Dishonor in a Dog Collar match. While this would not be Punk’s only time involved in such a match, he was once again able to defeat Raven.

While one would think a Dog Collar match would be as violent as a rivalry could go, the two picked it up a notch, or several, at Beating The Odds, in a Clockwork Orange House of Fun match. What basically amounted to a hardcore cage match, Raven would win and after the match would be essentially crucified by Punk in the ring.

Their final match would take place at the appropriately named Conclusion, in a steel cage match, that was tame compared to their previous wars. CM Punk would win the match in what would end of being Raven’s final match in Ring of Honor.
