100 Greatest WWE Royal Rumble Moments Ever
45. Sock & Snake Connection (2012)
1998 may be the Royal Rumble most fans think of when they look back at Mick Foley’s stints in WWE’s over-the-top January staple, but the Hardcore Legend also had a memorable, if brief, outing in 2012.
There’s been some great Royal Rumble stand-offs over the years - Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior, Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker, Cody Rhodes and CM Punk, to name just a few - and 2012 served up Mick Foley and Santino Marella.
Foley pulled out his trusty Mr. Socko, Santino cocked his Cobra, and St. Louis' Scottrade Center ate it up! Before either man could strike, though, Epico would enter the match… only to be hit by the Cobra, put in the Mandible Claw, and immediately dumped out.
In a battle for the ages, the Cobra and Socko then locked up, with neither backing down. Well, until Cody Rhodes and The Miz broke things up, leading to Cody soon eliminating both Marella and the Micker.
