Full Gear 2021 will be the first AEW pay-per-view in quite some time to not feature a blockbuster debut.

The biggest names don't stack up. There's nobody on the free agency market that would appeal to this fanbase in the same way as an Adam Cole, Bryan Danielson, or CM Punk. Braun Strowman seems likelier to head to IMPACT Wrestling at this point, Keith Lee isn't available until the beginning of February, and Kazuchika Okada and Tomohiro Ishii will be busy at NJPW's Battle in the Valley show while Full Gear is on air.

Bray Wyatt would be most peoples' picks for a big-name arrival but while Tony Khan has said he's open to speaking with the former WWE Champion, it seems unlikely for now. That upcoming movie project will keep him occupied for the foreseeable future. On top of this, he still feels like a poor fit for a company with little wiggle room for the supernatural, which is where Wyatt's particular brand of creativity lies.

Luchasaurus is a dinosaur, Kris Statlander is an alien, and Abadon is a zombie. None indulge in spooky sh*t on television. Matt Hardy was allowed to teleport once and Khan went on to call it one of his biggest regrets since AEW launched.

If Bray comes in, it'd likely be as a straight guy, but would that scratch his creative itch? It's debatable.
