11 HUGE NJPW/ROH G1 Supercard Predictions You Need To Know

2. Jay Lethal (c) Vs. Marty Scurll Vs. Matt Taven (ROH World Title - Ladder Match)

Jay Lethal Matt Taven Marty Scurll
ROH/NJPW

That this match will go second last in Madison Square Garden feels like a gesture of good faith from New Japan management. Jay Lethal vs. Marty Scurll vs. Matt Taven isn't half as mouthwatering as some of the other matches on the card, but it's for Ring Of Honor's top championship. Burying it on the midcard wouldn't have gone down well with the Lion Mark's American partners.

Regardless, what this bout lacks in star power it should make up for in visceral thrills. Why? It's got ladders, baby.

None of these guys is a natural high-flyer, but they'll work incredibly hard to get over. Ladder spots will come thick and fast. Expect all manner of elaborate set pieces from a stipulation that Ring Of Honor always seem to knock out of the park, and for none of these three rivals to hold anything back in the quest for glory.

As for the outcome, we can probably rule Scurll out as most sources reckon his ROH contract expires within the next few months. Lethal vs. Taven goes to the wire, though it probably makes sense to give it to the man on the rise...

Winner: Matt Taven.
