11 Legendarily BAD Wrestling Runs (With One ICONIC Moment)

Once-untouchable 'Attitude Era' leader Steve Austin was not happy in 2002. The prior year saw him perform a wonky heel turn at WrestleMania X-Seven before flip-flopping between the WWF and the WCW/ECW Alliance for the rest of the calendar. By '02, fans just wanted 'the old Stone Cold', but creative planned to downplay him as a permanent main eventer.

This coincided with the nWo returning to screens. Hollywood Hogan, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall danced into view at No Way Out in February. On screen, they were treated like a cancer brought in by Vince McMahon to destroy his own creation. Backstage, Hall (in particular) was rubbing people up the wrong way with his sophomoric antics and general behaviour.

At 'Mania X8, Austin found himself smack bang in the midcard against Hall. Again, he wasn't thrilled by the thought of that, and the pair had one of the most nondescript WrestleMania matches of Steve's entire career. This was even less impressive than 'Mania XII vs. Savio Vega had been! One thing saved it.

That was the only thing of note from the ex-Razor Ramon's 3 month stint back in the federation. His ridiculously overblown sell job for Austin’s stunner at 'Mania X8 became stuff of legend. It looked so comedic. However, keep in mind that "iconic" doesn't necessarily mean great. People remember this sell job for various reasons. Some like it, and others get a kick out of how it looked for all the world like Scott was trolling 'Stone Cold'.
