11 Most Brutal Acts Of Revenge In MMA History
5. Khabib Shuts Up Conor McGregor
Khabib Nurmagomedov got the best sort of revenge on Conor McGregor – he beat the absolute piss out of The Notorious at UFC 229.
The build to this fight was a heated, aggressive and extremely personal one, with McGregor overstepping the line at several points in his disrespect of Khabib.
From trash talking, the ante was upped when Conor and a group of his pals attacked a bus carrying Khabib at UFC 223 – smashing one of the windows and causing injuries to several of those inside. McGregor would be charged with three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief for his role in this. And to think, this was before Conor and Khabib were even in fight mode.
When things intensified as the pair’s UFC 229 battle loomed large, McGregor’s pre-fight appearances were constructed of dialogue that many deemed racist as the Irishman mocked Nurmagomedov, his family, his faith, and anything that Conor could use to try and get under the skin of his opponent.
For Khabib, revenge came as he tapped out Conor McGregor in the fourth road of their Las Vegas battle.
Even then, the animosity was so bad that the pair and their teams embarked on a post-fight brawl that saw both fighters suspended.
