11 Most Brutal Acts Of Revenge In MMA History

4. GSP Avenges His First Ever Loss

Georges St-Pierre and Matt Hughes are both rightfully viewed as all-time legends in the world of MMA.

Having made a name for himself as one of the hottest rising stars in the game, GSP was brought crashing down to earth by Hughes at 2004’s UFC 50. Previously undefeated, St-Pierre was forced to tap out to an expertly applied armbar by Hughes that saw the American win the vacant UFC Welterweight Championship.

After this, GSP notched up wins over Dave Strasser, Jason Miller, Frank Trigg, Sean Sherk, and B.J. Penn as he put himself on course for a rematch against Hughes at UFC 65.

In a performance that saw him win Knockout of the Night and become the new Welterweight Champ, Rush finally got his revenge on Hughes after landing a hard head kick as he anticipated his opponent attempting a takedown. From there, St-Pierre pounced on the fallen Hughes and rained down some vicious shots that saw him the get the TKO stoppage.

The respectful rivals would meet for a third and final time just a year later at December 2007’s UFC 69 - GSP getting further revenge by submitting Hughes with an armbar of his own on the way to becoming interim Welterweight Champion.
