11 Most Disappointing Things About WrestleMania 33
2. No Blood In The Lesnar/Goldberg Match
This one wouldn’t even be on this list if it wasn’t for one of the performers themselves promising as much.
In the days leading up to the his title defence
against Brock, Goldberg said the bout between
the two would be a “bloodbath” and they would be free to operate outside the
normal constraints of WWE’s PG environment.
Maybe it’s my fault for getting worked, but with the two already showing an inability to spend more than five minutes in the ring together I assumed this would be an effective way of adding some flash to a showdown that desperately longed for something other than the four total moves of both men’s active arsenal.
We did get a tiny bit of unintentional blood when the two crashed through what appeared to be the incorrect section of the barricade, slamming into the metal framing. Lesnar scraped his elbow and Goldberg nicked the side of his head, but these were the kind of wounds that a toddler rubs dirt on and brushes off before going back to eating bugs.
With Lesnar’s propensity for turning his matches into crimson-masked affairs, whether he’s bathing in his own blood or that of his opponent, it was quite the letdown to have this one end with nary a droplet.
