11 Most Disappointing WWE PPV Endings
1. Battleground 2013 — Nobody's A Winner
You only get one chance to make a first impression, which is unfortunate for WWE’s Battleground PPV. In 2013, at the inaugural event, WWE put on a show described as “truly awful” by the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, while Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com said that “WWE really owes their audience an apology” in the aftermath of the show.
While most of the card was lacking, much of the negative feedback was a result of the event’s conclusion.
Daniel Bryan faced Randy Orton for the vacant WWE Championship, having lost the belt to Orton in the closing moments of SummerSlam and seen his win in the rematch nullified due to a crooked referee's fast count. That backstory meant it was high-time for a decisive outcome but instead, all we got was interference from the Big Show. Again.
Show came out and after initially turning heel, pulling out the referee before knocking out Bryan, he then had a sudden change of heart and did exactly the same to Orton.
In fairness, the fans popped at first, though they soon quietened down as Show’s music played us out and it became apparent that this was indeed how the evening would end. The match was ruled a no contest and the WWE Title remained vacant. "I don't know what to say!" bellowed Michael Cole as the ecent went off the air.
Neither did we, Cole. Neither did we.
