Following Seth Rollins’ disbandment of the Shield, his feud with Dean Ambrose in 2014 proved to be one of the most compelling storylines we’d seen in years.

After clashing in the Money in the Bank ladder match, the pair brawled at Battleground and squared off in a lumberjack bout at SummerSlam before a blow-off match was scheduled for Hell in a Cell inside the eponymous structure.

The match featured some awesome storytelling, as well as a Cell-top brawl and a spot that saw both guys crash through announce desks - but was ultimately let-down by a bizarre finish, robbing this angle of the closure it deserved.

Ambrose had gone to fetch cinderblocks from under the ring, with the intention of stomping Rollins through them, at which point the screen went dark. When the lights came back on, there was some gibberish recording playing over the speakers and a lamp in the ring projecting a hologram. Hmm.

A bemused Ambrose then watched on as Bray Wyatt emerged from the smoke behind the hologram, took him out and allowed Rollins to score the win. A disappointing and campy end to what was arguably the company’s feud of the year.
