11 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (29 Sep)

3. BOOM Goes Dynamite

Adam Cole
AEW

Adam Cole is a star. Listen to his off-the-chain crowd reactions and deny that. He is every bit as over as he was when NXT TakeOver was the hottest ticket in American wrestling, if not more so, and met another beloved favourite in Jungle Boy last night.

The match lived up to its billing. Worked to the company's house style, its momentum swung back and forth with exciting bursts of offense, big counters, and kickouts. Early signs that it would develop into a limb match faded after Jungle Boy seemingly jacked his knee up on the outside. From there, it was exactly what the audience bought their tickets for - and laced with more than enough character to work to put some serious meat on its bones.

Jungle Boy's relative inexperience led to him pausing when he should have capitalised after a couple of near-falls. Cole later escaped the Snare Trap after a Panama Sunrise kickout, then eventually cheated to win, low-blowing Jungle Boy when a grapple took them into Aubrey Edwards, hitting his rechristened Boom running knee for the win.

A scummy heel win for a guy who loves hearing his "BAY-BAY!" roared back at him, this brisk, exciting banger was an adrenaline-pumper typical of the company.
