11 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Dec 10)
6. He Never Lost It
Ken Shamrock seemingly never lost the ability to have a great match, as his main event bout with Sami Callihan this week made for a decent affair, much like Shamrock's match with Moose at Bound For Glory. It's been great to see 'The World's Most Dangerous Man' back in action on such a platform.
He's not quite as good as he used to be due to his increased age - for example, his belly-to-belly suplexes appear to have much less impact than once over - but he's still amazing in the ring. His strikes easily wear down an opponent, as they did with the World Champion here, while he seems to have learned from his Bound For Glory mistakes by not taking too many risks. Thankfully, Moose was able to catch him on that dive, and then we don't have to see it again.
Shamrock only lost this match because there was a ref bump, allowing Madman Fulton to intervene and lay him out with an End of Days-type move, albeit a sloppy-looking attempt. It was the perfect thing for him. Despite Sami Callihan currently being the Impact World Champion, he shouldn't be beating guys like Ken Shamrock clean because his character just doesn't fit that role. He's far more suited to using underhanded tactics, such as the interference of Fulton and the theft of Shamrock's trademark Ankle Lock.
A fun main event match with every box being ticked. Good stuff from all involved.
