11 Ups & 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (24 Sept)

5. Minimal Fuss

Charlotte Flair Carmella Bayley

One of two things was going to happen when Carmella and Charlotte Flair vs. Bayley and Sasha Banks was put together:-

1. A screwy finish to maintain enough heat for a transition into Bayley vs. Carmella for the SmackDown Women's Championship.

2. 'The Princess Of Staten Island' taking the fall.

'Mella did end up taking the fall, but to Sasha Banks. This should mean a potential clash with Bayley is still on the table, as it's unlikely that she was thrown into this group of wrestlers for a two-week filler storyline, though you never know with WWE's booking.

The match itself was short and functional and Flair not taking the fall protects her for her own title fight, if that's where the company choose to go next. Her Figure Eight was countered out of late on, before Carmella tagged in, ran wild, and took out the interfering Bayley, allowing Sasha to take advantage of her divided attention with the Banks Statement and the 1-2-3.
