11 Ups & 4 Downs For Impact Wrestling In 2020 (So Far)

6. The Rise And Fall Of oVe

Impact Wrestling

Since forming in late 2017, the Sami Callihan-led oVe faction have ran roughshod over Impact Wrestling as a whole. Callihan, Madman Fulton, and Dave and Jake Crist always had a buzz around them, no matter where they were positioned on the card, thanks in part to the amazing detail they put towards their characters.

The group were more like a brotherhood than anything else, which made it far more shocking when 'The Draw' turned on his comrades during his Rebellion clash with Ken Shamrock. No-one could have predicted that was how oVe were going to end. They were such a close-knit group that such a thing as an implosion seemed impossible. One by one, the group fizzled out, as Madman Fulton departed from the Crist brothers not long after, while Jake would then turn on his brother in favour of joining a different alliance.

While oVe were always classed as one of the top acts in Impact, their post-oVe careers have taken off in such quick fashion. Sami Callihan is continuing to develop his terrific hacker gimmick while being in an 'are they friends, are they not' alliance with Ken Shamrock with a World Tag Team Championships opportunity awaiting them, while Madman Fulton is now the bodyguard to Ace Austin. Granted, he's always played this henchman character so it's not too much of a difference, but having him aligned with only one other star allows him to receive the attention he so dearly deserves instead of being an afterthought in the shadow of Callihan and the Crists.
