11 Ups & 4 Downs For Impact Wrestling In 2020 (So Far)
2. Conveyor Belt Of Talent
It's no secret that Impact's roster as a whole is superb. They've always had a tendency to mix established names with some of the fastest rising stars from the independent circuit, which has allowed for some truly tantalising matches to take place inside an Impact ring. Of course, you can argue that their roster doesn't have the same level of huge names as it once had (for example, the biggest names that will appear to older fans are the likes of Rhino, Rob Van Dam, and Ken Shamrock), but there is now a platform being offered to some of the world's hungriest performers to one day reach that same level of success.
Take the likes of Ace Austin and The Rascalz for example. They were all blowing up on the indies, particularly in the case of the latter seeing as Dez and Wentz have been the PWG World Tag Team Champions since April 2018, but Impact gave them that platform they required to be broadcast to a much wider audience. Now, Ace is the second youngest X Division Champion in history behind only Amazing Red, with the chance to become the youngest World Champion in Impact history at Slammiversary, while The Rascalz are one of the top teams in Impact at the moment. Like 'The One True Ace', Trey will also have the opportunity to compete for the biggest prize on offer in Impact on 18 July.
Aside from the stars who were already a part of the roster, Chris Bey officially joined a few months ago, immediately becoming one of the more prominent members of the X division. 'The Ultimate Finesser' is a sensational talent who was in dire need of a stage like Impact Wrestling to take a chance on him. Now that it's happened, Bey has really transformed into this conniving individual who won't hesitate from resorting to nefarious means if it means challenging for championship gold. Even his partnership with Johnny Swinger has been something spectacular.
