11 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Jan 1)

3. The Ol' Bait & Switch

Chris Jericho fancy man
AEW

The Jon Moxley/Inner Circle segment was well-performed, with Sammy Guevara buttering the 'Purveyor of Violence' up before Chris Jericho appeared on the big screen, having bought Moxley a shiny new car, then promised equal partnership in AEW's power stable before offering him a 49% stake in a gloriously understated d*ckhead move. The AEW World Champion is even going to make him an Executive Vice President! What a jam up guy.

Regardless, this was a bait and switch. A disappointing, WWE-style bait and switch, with Moxley opting against delivering his decision on joining the Inner Circle, announcing that he'd do it next week instead.

Given that Mox's decision was a huge part of this show's marketing, this felt cheap. It was as disappointing, the deflated crowd creation was warranted, and while a man like Moxley wanting to do this face-to-face with Jericho rather than through a video screen makes sense for his character, they still pulled the rug away.

Less of this, please.
