11 WWE Stars Who Made Appearances For Other Promotions
6. The Hardy Boyz
We’ve already touched upon the Hardys’ one-off outing for UPW way back in December of 2000, but far more recently, they fulfilled an indie date for Tommy Dreamer’s House of Hardcore (HOH) promotion whilst technically under contract with WWE.
The date in question was their 22 April booking on the HOH XXV show, and though they did indeed make the event, they had to fight for that right.
The Hardys had recently made a surprise return to WWE at WrestleMania 33. However, prior to that return, they’d already committed to various indie dates—including this HOH appearance. Initially, WWE's stance had been that the Hardys would have to cancel, to the point that Dreamer even went to the effort of booking the Young Bucks as a replacement.
On the day of the show, though, Nick Jackson of the Bucks was struck ill, and so Dreamer was essentially left in the lurch. Mercifully, WWE went back on their word and allowed the Hardys to make the appearance, where they wrestled a tag match—albeit a safe one—against Dreamer and Bully Ray.
