11 WWE Stars Who Made Appearances For Other Promotions
5. Finn Bálor
On 20 November 2016, Insane Championship Wrestling ran Fear & Loathing IX. As the biggest show in their ten-year history, they naturally wanted to pull out all of the stops. Some of the best independent names in the world were scouted, including the Dudley Boys and Kurt Angle, as well as WWE’s own Mick Foley, who was slated to return to his role as ICW commissioner.
Unfortunately, though, WWE decided they’d need Foley for Survivor Series that weekend, and so his ICW appearance was limited to being one via satellite. To make up for that, WWE rather generously agreed to let Finn Bálor take Foley’s place, with the former ICW Zero-G Champion being booked as the “special guest enforcer.”
Recovering from a shoulder injury, Bálor wasn't able to get too physical in his role, though he did come out to kick off the show, before returning later in the evening to smack John Jester with a lead pipe and gift Team Dallas the victory in their elimination tag match.
Similarly, WWE repeated the trick more recently when they allowed Noam Dar to appear at Shug’s Hoose Party IV a couple of months back in July.
